There are several methods that can be used to clean carpeted stairs using the HOST System. You should base the method you choose on the number and size of the stairs you're cleaning.

Keep stairs looking like new
with HOST Dry Cleaning Carpet Cleaning Machine!

Method 1: Remove the long handle from the base of the HOST Machine and then use the base as the stair-cleaning tool. Squeeze the handle on the base of the Machine for easy operation. (See photo.)
Method 2: Sometimes it's convenient to leave the long handle in the Machine and use it for leverage particularly if the stairs are wide.
Method 3: You can also lock the handle
in the upright position and work the Machine back and forth on the steps
while you're standing.
Host Stair Cleaning Procedure

Vacuum before cleaning. This helps to remove sand and grit that's embedded on each step. |

Always clean from the top of stairs and work down. |

Apply HOST Spongesâ Cleaner to three or four steps starting from the top and working down. |

Brush with the HOST Machine. Concentrate on brushing on the tread - remember the riser never gets walked on so it doesn't have ground-in soil. Some HOST will fall on the step below. That's why we suggest you start from the top step. |

Brush in both directions until you've completed one step. Then go on to the next step. |

If you see spots on the riser, use your HOST Hand Spotting brush and work some HOST into those areas. |

After you've completed that last step, return to the top of the stairs and vacuum. You can use a handheld vac, a tank with a small power head or your regular upright vac. The Host Hand Spotting Brush can be used to remove HOST from the edges and corners. Vacuum both the treads and the risers. |
